Trump blows up Republican anti-Sapraicone narrative

Former Republican president Donald Trump always seems to do the unexpected.

For the past week, Conservative Republicans, especially former Congressman Peter King, were all over the news, demanding that Mike Sapraicone, a former NYC police detective and founder/former owner of Squad Security, Inc., which provides security for many large companies,  drop out of his planned race against incumbent Democratic New York U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

The reason, they said, was that Squad Security, had given a $1,000 contribution to the election campaign of Democrat New Yok Attorney General Letitia James in March, 2020.

James is Trump's sworn enemy after she recently won a massive $450 million dollar judgment against  him for allegedly inflating the value of his properties -- something that every real estate developer does when looking for loans in the same way they deflate the claimed worth of their properties when seeking property tax assessment reductions.

Sapraicone had already received the Nassau, Suffolk and state GOP endorsements for the race.

Newsday's the Point reported that Nassau Republican Chairman Joe Cairo told Sapraicone that he was worried that his candidacy would alienate Trump supporters while King, a Seaford Republican who earlier endorsed Sapraicone, went public, saying, “Finding out he donated to Tish James, I don't see how Nassau Republicans or others across the state can continue to support him.”

Sapraicone had until Thursday to officially drop out. He refused. He said he regularly donated to both Republicans and Democrats as do most big businesses and their principals.

Few people mentioned that the person who first "outed" Sapraicone's donation to the media was Josh Eisen, an upstate Republican who is challenging Sapraicone for the Republican nomination to run against Gillibrand.

King said he would ask Trump to tell Sapraicone to withdraw.

Well, Trump not only didn't ask Saparicone to withdraw but he posted a hearty endorsement of the former city police detective on his "Truth Social" network today.

"Mike is a strong and successful person and I look forward to working with him to take New York State away from the people who have destroyed it..."Trump wrote. "Good Luck to Mike -- he has my Complete and Total Endorsement."

  1. Trump doesn't listen to or like most of the old men clinging to life and hanging out at post avenue. Good for Mike
