Blakeman sues Letitia James over transgender athlete dispute
Everyone knew it would come down to this.

When Republican Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman signed his executive order banning transgender women, ie biological males, from competing in women and girl's sports events in county-owned facilities, Democrat New York Attorney General Letitia James warned she was reviewing her legal options.
Then James sent Blakeman a "cease and desist" order, demanding he rescind the ban. She called it "transphobic and blatantly illegal."
She gave him five days to respond.
Today, Blakeman says he will respond by filing suit against James in federal district court.

Blakeman is clearly playing to his conservative base who oppose biological men competing against biological women.
A quick internet search shows no recent polling on the issue. The latest in 2022 showed a clear majority on Blakeman's side when it comes to transgender athletes.
Perhaps the most recent poll on transgender acceptance in general can be seen in the boycott of Bud Light when Anheuser-Busch used transgender spokesperson Dylan Mulvaney to sell what was then the country's most popular light beer:
"According to a report in CNN, Bud Light has lost what may be a staggering $1.4 billion in the wake of the public boycott."
jay jacobs is noticbly quiet on this issue.........
ReplyDeleteThanks Flakeman. Definitely wanted my taxes to go up for you to do pointless crap all the time. How about use some of the budget to maintain the county's crumbling buildings and infrastructure.
