Republican activities: Most Nassau GOP elites were in Israel this week

So what were Nassau Republicans doing during these last dog days of summer: while former Democratic U.S. Rep. Tom Suozzi was partying with former staffers; Democrats Laura Gillen and Kevin Thomas were campaigning for Congress and Democratic Nassau Legis. Josh Lafazan was advising everyone to do what he says, not what he does?

They were in Israel. See the above post from U.S. Rep. Anthony D'Esposito, an Island Park Republican who won the open 4th District Congressional seat last year. And the post from Republican State Sen. Patricia Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick of Malverne, who won the open 9th District state senate seat after former Democratic State Sen. Todd Kaminsky of Long beach decided against seeking re-election.

See if you can identify the Republicans in the photo by the wall. Hint: Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman is in the middle. Nassau Republican Chairman Joseph Cairo is on the far right.

The unconfirmed back story is that they are there for the wedding of an important Nassau businessman and contributor and are paying for the trip from their political committees.

  1. Do you get paid per Lafazan attack you write? At what point are you considered an in-kind donation to Goetz’s campaign?
