Here is the likely new legislative map (UPDATED with better map and Drucker change)

Revised Republican legislative redistricting map  (replaces previous posted map)

Nassau Republicans, who control the county legislature, have submitted their revised redistricting map.

And since they have the votes, this is the map that likely will be approved.

It's difficult to tell exactly who gets what on this map.

But it looks like the 14th District, now represented by Republican Laura Schaefer, has been redrawn to be more compact, compared to the current version that hopscotches across the middle of Nassau.

But it also looks like Democrat Josh Lafazan, of Woodbury, who now represents the 18th District, has been redrawn into the new 16th District, currently represented by fellow Democrat Arnold Drucker of Plainview.

If that's accurate, it may mean that Lafazan, 29, may have to move out of his parent's basement in Woodbury and get his own place in the new 18th.

Lafazan has been busy running for Congress anyway, having press conferences criticizing Third District U.S. Rep. George Santos, on a near daily basis.

Unlerss you have been living under a rock, you know that the media has revealed that Republican Santos lied about most of his background: his education, his business experience, his heritage. Lying about his finances may be what brings him down, but so far he has refused to resign.

Lafazan finished third in a Democratic primary last year for that Congressional seat. He had served as an independent who caucused with the Democrats but he registered Democrat so he could run for Congress after he won re-election to his county office in 2021.

There had been talk even before the Santos saga began in January that Republicans would redistrict Lafazan out of his seat because they believe that is a Republican district. Lafazan defeated incumbent Republican Donald McKenzie in 2017 when he was first elected to the county legislature.

UPDATE: Meanwhile, it looks like Drucker has been moved into the 15th District, now represented by Republican leg. John Ferretti of Levittown.

Although most of Plainview is in the 16th district, the Country Point condo development, where Drucker lives, has been drawn into the 15th District.

There are probably more changes no evident at first glance.
