Nassau Congressional districts are now toss-ups; no longer likely Democratic seats
Polls collected by the political web site RealClearPolitics.com indicates a voter shift in Nassau's new Congressional Districts, whose final boundaries were submitted by a special master last month.
Biden had easily captured the majority of votes in the newly drawn District 3, which runs along Nassau's North Shore, and also in District 4, which runs from mid Nassau to the South Shore and is totally within Nassau, according to statistics that accompanied the new maps.
Now instead of leaning Democrat, polls gathered by RealClearPolitics show the two districts are toss-ups in November.
That should give a psychological boost at least to the two Republicans running for those seats in November: George Santos in District 3, vacated by incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Tom Suozzi of Glen Cove and Anthony D'Esposito in District 4, vacated by incumbent Democratic Rep. Kathleen Rice of Garden City.

Santos describes himself as an "Economist | Philanthropist | Animal Advocate." on his facebook and twitter pages.
D'Esposito, of Island Park, is a Hempstead Town Councilmember. He is a retired New York City police detective and former chief of the Island Park Fire Department.

The National Republican Congressional Committee today announced it was adding D'Esposito to its list of "On the Radar" candidates as part of its Young Guns Program.
According to the news release, the program headed by U.S. Rep. Kevin McCarthy, Republican leader of the U.S. House, helps new GOP candidates in their campaigns.

The RealClearPolitics reported shift in chances does nothing for the many Democrats running in Districts 3 and 4 who are seeking the party nomination for the November elections.
Though it's still unclear who will qualify for the new districts, candidates in District 3 include public relations executive Robert Zimmerman of Great Neck, Nassau Legis. Josh Lafazan of Woodbury and former North Hempstead Supervisor John Kaiman.
In District 4, candidates include former Hempstead Town Supervisor Laura Gillen of Rockville Centre, Malverne Mayor Keith Corbett and Nassau Legis. Carrie Solages of Lawrence.
According to the special master, voters in the new District 3 went 54.1 percent for Democrat Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election and 45.9 percent for incumbent Republican Donald Trump.
Voters in the new District 4 split 57.3 percent for Biden and 42.7 percent for Trump.
The new Congressional Districts in Suffolk were rated essential toss-ups by the special master, with incumbent U.S. Rep. Andrew Garbarino of Sayville having a slight edge in new District 2.
But even though they aren't listed on the Real Clear Politics graphic, its likely those districts are now leaning Republican because of Biden, who is now very unpopular and is losing Democratic and Independent voter support across the country because of inflation, crime border crisis, supply chain shortages and other catastrophic events.
