Alfano, a Republican, represented
North Valley Stream in the Democrat-controlled New York State Assembly from 1996 through 2010, when he decided against seeking re-election.
He became deputy general counsel to the Nassau Health Care Corp, which runs the East Meadow hospital and associated facilities, in 2014 for a salary of $199,000.
Like the late John Ciotti, who was general counsel for NUMC until his death in 2017, Alfano was a protege of Nassau Republican Chairman Joe Cairo, the longtime North Valley Stream GOP leader.
