Peter King (from wikipedia) Retired Congressman Peter King,  who always enjoyed a good fight while in office, is continuing to skirmish now that he's out. King,  a Republican from Seaford, sent an email to supporters this morning, urging them to back incumbent Republican Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino against Democratic "extremists" who are "trying to take control" of the town. (see copy of email below) He said Democrats are attacking the town because Oyster Bay is a "bastion of conservatism on Long Island." Oyster Bay is controlled by Republicans, but it has elected some Democrats in the past, including former Democratic Supervisor Lew Yevoli in the 1990s....

Jason Abelove   Weeks after Oyster Bay and North Hempstead Democrats announced their list of town candidates for the November elections, the Town of Hempstead is finally out with their nominees, which includes one longtime incumbent. Dorothy Goosby   Other than Senior Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby, a civil rights leader who has been re-elected to the Hempstead Town Board since 1999, the candidates appear to be first time candidates for municipal government elected posts. Unclear whether that's good or bad in their run against Republican incumbents. Garden city attorney Jason Abelove is the candidate challenging Republican incumbent supervisor Don Clavin. Abelove lives in Oceanside and, according to the press release, has been designated a "super lawyer", which apparently is a title chosen by other lawyers.                                                                              Carltun on the Park (from Yelp.com) Nassau's inspector general is questioning County Executive Laura Curran's proposed extension of Carltun on the Park's longtime license to provide restaurant and catering service at a county-owned building in Eisenhower Park, citing the lack of a "competitive process" in developing the deal. Inspector General Jodi Franzese, in a draft report sent to county legislators April 9, also noted the proposed extension offers  "significant" rent reductions, defers utility bills and increases Carltun's golf concession services while the restaurant appeared to be almost $143,000 in arrears on pre-pandemic rental payments.
